Mobile Surgery Unit — Three US Patents. ISO Class 5. WAGD.
Odulair holds three US patents for mobile operating room design — the first company ever to receive a US patent for a mobile OR. Full laminar flow, WAGD, medical gas. Meets the same codes as brick-and-mortar surgical suites.
What Odulair Builds
Odulair mobile surgery units are purpose-built surgical facilities on trailer platforms. They are not converted commercial trailers or adapted clinical spaces — they are engineered surgical environments meeting the same design standards as fixed operating rooms.

The Patent Story
Odulair was the first company in the United States to receive a US patent for mobile operating room design. Three patents cover structural and engineering innovations that make clinical-grade surgical suites viable in mobile configurations — specifically the systems that maintain ISO Class 5 conditions under road vibration, enable WAGD in a self-contained mobile environment, and integrate medical gas delivery safely.
These patents are the result of clinical engineering work that began in the early 2000s. They represent the difference between an OR that meets surgical suite standards and an enclosed space adapted for procedures.
WAGD in a Mobile OR
WAGD — waste anesthetic gas disposal — is a regulatory requirement for any surgical environment where inhalation anesthetics (halothane, isoflurane, sevoflurane, desflurane, nitrous oxide) are used. WAGD captures and exhausts waste gases that would otherwise accumulate to unsafe concentrations in an enclosed space.
Odulair’s patented WAGD implementation for mobile operating rooms solved the specific engineering problem of safe gas capture and exhaust in a mobile chassis environment. It was the first compliant mobile WAGD implementation and is now standard on all Odulair surgical trailer configurations.
Mobile Surgery Unit vs Mobile Procedure Room
The distinction matters for regulatory compliance, anesthesia options, and procedure types. Odulair builds both configurations.
| Standard | Mobile Surgery Unit | Mobile Procedure Room |
|---|---|---|
| Air Classification | ISO Class 5 laminar flow | ISO Class 7–8 or unclassified |
| WAGD | Required — included | Not required |
| Medical Gas | Full manifold | Limited or portable |
| Pressure | Positive vs all adjacent | Positive recommended |
| Anesthesia | Inhalation and IV | IV only without WAGD |
| Building Code | Surgical suite standard | Minor procedure standard |
| Platform | 40–53ft trailer | 30ft truck to 40ft trailer |
